North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms

North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms
The North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten (NCPK) classrooms in the Tyndall Center provide a specialized educational program for at-risk four-year-olds, providing extra help, support and attention to ensure kindergarten readiness and success later in school. The NCPK program is a statewide initiative funded through Smart Start.
With bright and spacious classrooms, inviting playgrounds, books, games, special activities, and the resources of Sipe’s rural campus, NCPK teachers engage students in a variety of educational experiences throughout the day. Children learn social, behavioral, academic, and problem-solving skills whether they are gathering for a snack, riding tricycles, listening to a story, painting, or playing on the playground.

MEET OUR LEAD TEACHERS

Hi! My name is Ashley Sherrill. I have worked in the NC Pre-K program for over 17 years. I joined the team here at the Tyndall Center for Early Age Education over 4 years ago. I grew up in Locust, North Carolina and now live in Catawba County. I graduated from Western Carolina University and obtained my Birth to Kindergarten Teaching License. I love my small family and my fur baby. I love to cook, I enjoy anything crafty, and I have recently become a book-lover and I try to make time to read nightly. I enjoy working with my amazing students and coworkers at the
Tyndall Center.

My name is Jessica Flowers! I am so excited to teach your children this year. I grew up in Hickory and have lived here all my life. I graduated from Pfeiffer University with a bachelor's degree in human services, concentrating in early childhood development and psychology. Afterwards, I attended Western Carolina University and obtained my Birth to Kindergarten Teaching Licensure. I have been a teacher for over 8 years, and I look forward to each new year I spend enriching the lives of the students I teach. I love hiking, reading, and playing with my 4-year-old daughter.
