Huckleberry Summer Camp

Huckleberry Summer Camp offers parents and campers several unique features aimed at making everyone's summer easier and more pleasant. Here are some examples:

The Money
  • The one-time $25 registration fee per child pays for a camp bag, camp t-shirt, and water bottle.
  • The weekly fee ($125 in 2012) is all-inclusive, with no additional or hidden costs. All the camp activities, food, supplies, etc. are included in this fee.
  • We subtract $5.00 per week for every brother or sister who is also enrolled.
  • We accept DSS Subsidy Vouchers, CVCC Vouchers, and the United Way Inclusion Grant (in addition to checks, money orders, credit/debit cards, and PayPal).
  • You only register and pay for the weeks you want to attend.
The Food
  • All campers receive breakfast, lunch, and snack every day. No need to pack your own.
  • Meals are prepared here in our kitchen and served in our dining hall.
  • If campers go on a field trip, we pack their lunch.
The Staff
  • Each staff member receives two weeks of training to prepare them for camp.
  • All Sipe's personnel have had criminal background checks, drugs screens, tb tests, and physicals.
  • Many of our staff members return each year.
The Activities
  • Each week, campers participate in horseback riding, swimming, and fishing.
  • Special activities (hikes, trips, field days, etc.) occur weekly throughout the summer.
  • Days have a mix of activities which are indoor and outdoor, quiet and active, all scheduled flexibly to accommodate the weather and safety considerations.
  • Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen on their children in the morning before they arrive. Following lunch, anyone who has turned in a sun screen form with a bottle of labeled sun screen will receive it before the children go back out in the afternoon.
  • For off-campus activities, campers will be transported in the Sipe's vans. Only staff 21 or older are allowed to transport children. (Children requiring safety seats will need to provide those for each trip.)
